Company Background
The FCS Groupe was created 40 years ago at the time of expansion for the development of household appliances. At this time, there was a large product demand, and the company directors equipped with experience in fine horology together with precision turned parts, created the group in order to reply to such a market.
Other activity sectors rapidly developed to add to this field of expertise. In those days, mechanical timers were not in competition with electronic timers. This arrived much later, in the 1990’s. Today, the mechanical timer industry continues to progress due to the simplicity of its technology for many applications; the management of time is still carried out manually and not by electrical impulse. Many applications continue this expertise and in particular, senior users who are not high level electronic programmers.
The FCS Groupe operates for a niche market, less cyclical in nature, characterised by substantial barriers to market entry. The group manufactures and commercialises a wide range of exclusively mechanical, high rate timers. Production techniques and expertise are identical to those of fine, Swiss horology. The timer components are manufactured with the precision required in this field, with finite, manual assembly of a very high quality.
The group’s products are distributed under the brand names of «Faucigny» and «Coupatan». The FCS timers are mainly produced for domestic equipment such as home appliances, watering systems, wall switches and programmers for cooking. Export represents a large sector of the group’s turnover. The main zones for export are in the USA, Asia and Europe where there is a high demand for mechanical timers which are specially adapted to the climate and electricity standards of each country.
